Brown University Graduation (1969) 

Brown University one of the most prominent Ivy Leagues up to date and back in the 1960's. Besides being prominent thanks to the intellectuals that attended this school they were mature enough to not oppress any person of color. Every was equally welcome ; as a result; they supported and joined the strikes and riots in regard to the civil rights movement. Student were well aware of all the injustices being committed around the globe as well as in their own country. Since the days of FDR's Brain Trusts Movement many students that had once attended Harvard had important jobs in the government. But the day for this utter respect toward Harvard and its intellectuals had came to an end in the 1969 Graduation. The War was at its brutal moment in this time more young men were being forced against their own will into the war. The people of color were being put in the front of the line in combat, causing a tremendous bloodshed. A vast majority of American citizens were upset including these Brown University student and this furry increased at the notice that Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger would be giving the keynote speech at their Graduation. The man that was the architect and had the power to expand the Vietnam War. As a consequence, two thirds of the graduating students wore a white ribbon on one of their arms and turned their backs on him while he gave he keynote speech. The students believed that a walkout had to many cons as a result the had their own way of sending their message towards the Vietnam War.
